The Path Forward

Each role builds on the last, creating a clear path for growth and contribution.

1
Intern icon

Interns

Winter & Summer • Part/Full Time

Interns join in the winter and summer seasons, part time or full time, and focus on foundational responsibilities that support the studio's daily work. That usually means research support, note-taking and synthesis, organizing references, assisting with light design and documentation, helping with QA, and doing structured production tasks that help projects move forward while they learn our methods.

2

Apprentices

Year Round • Part Time (Full Time in Summer/Winter)

Apprentices participate year round, typically part time, with the option to go full time during summers or winters. Apprentices take on deeper ownership than interns: they build craft through repeated practice, contribute to ongoing projects, and learn to carry work from start to finish with increasing independence, while staying close to feedback and standards.

3

Fellows

Apprentice with Distinction

Fellows are apprentices with distinction. They have earned trust through consistency, quality, and judgment, and they take on higher responsibility within the community, often leading small efforts, guiding newer contributors, and helping maintain the culture and bar.

4
Mentor icon

Mentors

Industry Professionals

Mentors are non-students in industry who invest time and experience into the community. Mentors help apprentices, fellows, and interns by reviewing work, offering practical context, giving honest feedback, and sharing the habits, expectations, and decision patterns that define excellent professional work.

Pulp101 is a place where people learn by doing, across disciplines and across generations, with standards that make the work worth the time.
