Every Product Demo Is a Story, and Most End Before the Climax

By Aamir AhmedMar 1, 20255 min read

Abstract

Introduce the four-phase HCI narrative arc—Hook, Exploration, Alignment, Resolution—and show why framing sessions as stories helps teams spot where trust and intent collapse.

When we treat a product demo or a digital journey as a narrative rather than a funnel, the places where users drop off stop looking like metrics problems and start looking like story problems. Something happened. The reader lost the thread, or the stakes felt wrong, or the climax never arrived.

This post maps the four phases onto common product scenarios and invites readers to name the "drop-off moment" they see most often in their own work.
